A Fancy Garden Party at Sunken Gardens | Carly + Allen
There’s something truly magical about a garden wedding, and Carly and Allen’s celebration at Sunken Gardens in St. Pete was like stepping into a real-life fairytale. As a St. Pete Photographer, I’ve had the joy of capturing many beautiful love stories, but this one was especially sweet—full of joy, laughter, dancing, and heartfelt moments.
Carly and Allen’s story began years ago in Gainesville, while both were students at the University of Florida. Allen happened to be in the same fraternity as Carly’s sister, and after a football game one evening, fate stepped in. Carly’s sister invited her out to a post-game celebration, and that's where she met Allen. Sparks flew immediately, and their journey together began that night.
Years later, Allen popped the question in one of the most romantic cities in the world—New York City. They were visiting for a friend’s wedding and to celebrate their five-year anniversary. While walking around a lake in Central Park, Allen waited for the perfect quiet moment to get down on one knee.
Their shared interests—like yoga, hiking, tennis, walking their pups, playing video games, and cozying up with a good TV show—are just some of the many ways they’ve built a life filled with joy and connection.
Their wedding at Sunken Gardens embraced a fancy garden party theme. From the whimsical white floral arrangements to the handcrafted centerpieces of fairy lights, everything felt personal and full of intention. Their guest gifts were thoughtfully chosen and added a DIY touch that reflected the couple's creativity.
One of Carly’s favorite parts of the day was the cocktail hour held in the Oak Pavilion—a dreamy courtyard surrounded by nature’s beauty. It was the perfect space for guests to mingle and soak in the garden atmosphere before heading to the reception.
The ceremony was touching, and I especially loved capturing the way Allen looked at Carly as she walked down the aisle. The vows were heartfelt, and that magical "I do" moment radiated love. But if you ask Carly and Allen, their first dance might just take the crown as the most memorable part of the ceremony—they were absolutely glowing.
The reception was all about celebration, and their personalities really came alive on the dance floor. As a photographer who values photojournalistic photography and capturing wedding candids, I was in heaven! Every smile, every spontaneous dance move, every emotional speech was a snapshot of who they are as a couple and the love that surrounds them.
Carly’s radiant smile and Allen’s infectious energy made my job an absolute joy. It was an honor to capture their wedding photography in St. Pete and preserve the story of their day.
