Debbie + Eric Step Into The Limelight | Bayou Club | St. Petersburg, FL

A Hurricane Love Story at Bayou Club: Elegant Earthy Wedding in St. Petersburg, Florida

In a year when Florida life was quite literally put on hold, Debbie and Eric’s story began the same way—unexpected, powerful, and impossible to ignore.

On the way to their Bayou Club wedding in St. Petersburg, Florida, I saw something that made my jaw drop. A flashing road sign lit up the roadway: “TORNADO WARNING.”

I had a quiet, unmistakable sense that this wasn’t random. I texted my second shooter, Adrian: “WOW… I just saw a tornado warning sign. This is not a coincidence.”

Because if there was ever a couple whose love story was defined by weather, by timing, by force, and by something bigger than circumstance—it was Debbie and Eric.

Their relationship had always been written in the language of storms.

During the aftermath of the storms, when much of Tampa Bay was still without power, Debbie’s home became a gathering place. She was one of the few who still had electricity—and more than that, she had the kind of generous, open heart that naturally draws people in. Without hesitation, she welcomed others in, creating a space where friends, neighbors, and even extended circles could come together while everything outside felt uncertain.

Among those who gathered that night were people who would later become meaningful parts of their wedding day—including the officiant, who arrived with her parents.

In the middle of that evening, Debbie shared that she had met someone online—Eric. They wanted to meet in person, but there was one problem: everywhere was closed. The storms had brought normal life to a halt. There were no restaurants, no coffee shops, no easy meeting place.

So someone made a simple suggestion:

“Just invite him over.”

And she did.

He arrived with six bottles of her favorite wine and a dozen roses—a gesture that felt abundant, thoughtful, and deeply personal from the very beginning. But more than that, he walked into a home already full of people, energy, and connection… and somehow, effortlessly, he fit right in.

There was no awkwardness. No hesitation.

It was as if he had always been part of the room.

They had met online during Hurricane Milton, one of the two back-to-back storms—Milton and Helene—that swept through Tampa Bay and the greater St. Petersburg area in 2024, bringing everyday life to a standstill. And while the outside world slowed down, something between them moved quickly—naturally, undeniably forward.

What began in the middle of chaos felt, from the very beginning, like something steady.

Something certain.

Something meant to be.

And earlier that same year, another storm had quietly passed through the Florida panhandle.

Hurricane Debbie.

The bride’s name.

Three storms. One timeline. One story that felt less like coincidence and more like something written long before they ever met.

From the very beginning, their connection was immediate and all-consuming—the kind of love people wait their entire lives for… and sometimes wonder if it will ever come.

But theirs did.

And it arrived like a storm.

Just under a year later, their next chapter unfolded.

On October 11, 2025, during a housewarming party in the home they were renovating together, Eric planned a proposal that reflected both intention and heart. It was a reflection of the life they were already building. Together, they found joy in renovating their home, creating something meaningful from the ground up—side by side, decision by decision, piece by piece.

Their wedding day carried that same spirit. Hosted at the Bayou Club in Largo, Florida—one of the most sought-after wedding venues in the Tampa Bay and St. Pete area—their celebration embodied an elegant meets earthy wedding style, blending refined details with organic beauty. But the weather had its own plans.

With rain moving in and conditions shifting under a tornado warning, the couple made the decision to move their first look, ceremony, and formal portraits indoors.

And what could have felt like a disruption instead became something unexpectedly magical.

Inside, the space transformed into what felt like a fairytale—lush greenery and the golf course in the background, soft light filtering through, and a gentle mist settling outside. The storm created an atmosphere that was intimate, romantic, and almost dreamlike… as if everything had been slowed down on purpose.

There was a stillness to it.

A presence.

The kind you can’t plan.

The kind you can only feel.

And then—just as quickly as the storm had arrived—it softened.

Later in the evening, the sky opened just enough to gift them something unexpected. They stepped outside and caught sunset over the parking lot, turning an ordinary space into something golden and cinematic. From there, we made our way onto the 19th green at Bayou Club, the very place where their ceremony had originally been planned. And in that moment, everything came full circle.

The light. The space. The story.

Exactly as it was meant to be.

But beyond the venue, beyond the design, beyond the weather…

What defined their St. Petersburg wedding at Bayou Club was something far deeper:

A love that didn’t hesitate. A love that arrived fully. A love that felt like weather—powerful, undeniable, and impossible to ignore.

And no storm—not rain, not wind, not even a tornado warning— could ever dampen that.

Because some love stories aren’t disrupted by the storm.

They’re defined by it.

Rachel + Christian Step Into The Limelight | The Bayou | Largo, FL

On a beautiful October afternoon, Rachel and Christian said “I do” surrounded by the serene beauty of Bayou Club in Largo, Florida. Their wedding day, held on October 25th, was filled with laughter, love, and a sense of joy that could be felt from the moment the celebration began. Their wedding colors of blue, peach, and white, perfectly complemented the season and the atmosphere of their destination venue.

The Bayou Club provided a beautiful backdrop for their celebration with its lush greenery, sparkling water views, and golden light filtering through the trees. Every detail of the day reflected the couple’s personalities, from the elegant décor to the heartfelt moments shared with family and friends.

We especially loved being able to steal a moment with the bride and groom to take some newlywed portraits under the trees with water views, as well as portraits to highlight their wedding venue of choice in the background!

Rachel and Christian’s day was perfectly romantic, fun, and tastefully executed. We are so happy to have been part of celebrating such a picture-perfect day!
