Their journey began in New Jersey, traveling to Puerto Rico before boarding a Norwegian Cruise Line itinerary that would ultimately bring them to one of the most breathtaking locations in the Caribbean—Sugar Beach, St. Lucia.
If you’ve ever been to Sugar Beach, you understand. Nestled between the iconic Piton mountains, it’s one of the most romantic proposal locations in the world. Lush, intimate, and quietly powerful.

Behind the Scenes: Planning a Surprise Proposal Abroad & Preparation Paying Off
When planning a destination proposal, timing and communication are EVERYTHING, and sometimes, they’re the very things you lose.
On the day of the proposal, Nick had no phone service. No way to confirm I was there. No way to check in or adjust the plan. Just trust! But thorough preparation pays off.
Ahead of time, he sent me a photo of their outfits so I could identify them from a distance. I spotted them walking along the beach and calmly moved into position; sitting at the bar in plain sight, exactly where he would subconsciously look if he needed reassurance.
I stood up, casually pretending to be on my phone, and said out loud, “Oh yes I see you! I’m heading down to the beach for a swim now…”
That was Nick’s cue.
The Proposal at Sugar Beach
Nick led Cordelia down the shoreline, under the guise of a simple walk along the beach. He reached into his pocket, pulled out the ring, and dropped to one knee in the sand, with the Pitons rising behind them and the Caribbean Sea stretching endlessly beside them.
Cordelia’s reaction was pure, unfiltered surprise. The kind you can feel in the air before a single word is spoken. And then… she said YES! ❤️
