Sarasota seems to be a lucky city for this couple. Brittany and James met while working at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota and after a few suggestions made by friends they went on their first date in 2011. Their dinner date at Patrick’s in downtown Sarasota quickly transformed into a 6+ hour long conversation filled with laughter. The couple instantly knew they were meant to be. On April 24th, 2014, Brittany’s birthday, both of their families met at a beach house on Isle of Palms, South Carolina for the Wedland family reunion. Once everyone arrived and got settled, Brittany was informed that she had a few more presents to open. To her surprise she received the best present of all, James’ proposal! Brittany admires James’ humor and his ability to keep a smile on her face. They enjoy the simple pleasures in life such as home improvement projects, cooking, football, friends and their dogs Callie and Jonah. Since Brittany was born in Sarasota, and they met there, the couple saw it fit to have the wedding in Florida. The couple chose The Vinoy® Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club because of the rich history and beauty of the resort. Brittany used pieces of her Mother’s, Grandmother’s and James’ Mother’s wedding dress to wrap her bouquet. Her mom also made her a charm using her grandfather's handwriting which was attached to the bouquet. The uniqueness of this couple's wedding does not end there; the sand they used for their sand ceremony was from their hometowns Sarasota, Florida and Harbor Springs, Michigan and their current home Charleston, South Carolina. Their simple and gorgeous outdoor ceremony was followed by an elegant ballroom reception. With no surprise, their wedding theme was: Traditional Meets Contemporary.
