Tonya & Chris – A Yacht Wedding Full of Love, Laughter, and a Little Bit of Wobble

Some love stories feel like poetry. Tonya and Chris? They’re a whole playlist, romantic, joyful, and impossible not to dance along with.

These two had known each other for years through their children, but it wasn’t until May 2022 that the universe decided to give their story the spotlight. Thanks to some well-placed friends, they reconnected and quickly became inseparable. From concerts to traveling adventures and quiet days just enjoying each other's company, their journey since that first date on May 21, 2022, has been full of unforgettable moments.

They made it official (and tear-jerkingly sweet!) on November 25, 2023, surrounded by family and friends when Chris popped the question. And let me tell you, their destination wedding aboard a yacht on April 26, 2025, was nothing short of magical.

Photographing their wedding was an absolute dream although I’d be lying if I said I didn’t almost fall over at least five times thanks to the gentle, rocking of the boat! But hey, I survived with my gear intact and a heart full of joy.

The energy that day was contagious. Everyone had a glow, a sparkle in their eyes that said, “These two are something special.” Even the sunset seemed to agree it showed off with such beauty and harmony that it felt like the sky was serenading us with the most beautiful love song ever written.

And then there’s her gaze oh, the way Tonya’s eyes light up when she looks at Chris. That kind of sparkle can’t be faked. It’s the kind of look that says, “There you are. My person.” Watching her look at him was like watching love itself unfold pure, honest, and beautiful beyond words.

And then came the moment: Tonya and Chris’s private last dance. Just the two of them swaying gently as the boat rocked and the stars peeked out above it was pure magic. As a photographer, I get to witness a lot of beautiful things, but this moment? This one will stay with me.

I’m beyond grateful to have been a part of their big day. Tonya and Chris, thank you for trusting me to capture your love, your laughter, and yes, even my almost-slips onboard!

This past weekend, Jatnna and Shawn celebrated their beautiful wedding at The Regency Clearwater Hotel Resort, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day. From start to finish, everything felt like it belonged in a fairytale.

The sky was a flawless, bright blue—one of those perfect Florida days where the weather seems to celebrate with you. The ceremony was held on the gorgeous Sky Terrace, and it truly lived up to its name. With the ocean in the distance and a soft breeze in the air, the setting was simple, elegant, and breathtaking. As Jatnna walked down the aisle, surrounded by the open sky and the people who love them most, it was clear that this was going to be a day to remember.

After the "I do’s," the celebration moved inside to a lively dance floor that stayed packed all night long. Friends and family laughed, danced, and celebrated under twinkling lights, creating a joyful energy that was contagious. It was one of those receptions where no one wanted to sit down—and no one really did!

As the evening wound down, the sunset put on a show of its own. The sky exploded into shades of gold, pink, and deep orange, casting a warm glow over the entire resort. It was the perfect ending to a day full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Aubrey and Elliott first met in 2018 at a sushi restaurant — ironic, since Elliott doesn’t even like seafood. But when it’s meant to be, even raw fish can’t get in the way. From that first date, they began building a life full of simple joys: spring training games, trying new restaurants, and lots of laughter. Elliott, with his calm and steady nature, balances Aubrey’s fun-loving spirit perfectly.

The Proposal: A Sweet Surprise by the Sea

Elliott planned a thoughtful beach proposal, complete with Aubrey’s favorite flowers and a meaningful family ring. It was the perfect setup — heartfelt, personal, and full of love. This same energy carried through to their wedding day: just the two of them, the people who matter most, and a quiet stretch of sand.

When we asked Aubrey what inspired her wedding, she told us: “I love the beach and being outside. I like small and simple yet special.” And that’s exactly what their day was. A Love 44 Years in the Making and the Most Magical “I Do” at the Iconic Don Cesar.

There are weddings… and then there are weddings that feel like they were written by the universe itself. The kind that give you chills, bring tears to your eyes, and leave your heart bursting wide open. This was that kind of wedding and I, feel like the luckiest person in the world for having been part of it.

It all started at a middle school bus stop.

Boy tries to pull a silly prank on girl’s little brother.
Girl fierce, protective, unstoppable threatens to rearrange his face.
Boy, terrified (and probably a little impressed), decides to never go near her again.
Until years later, when life brings them back together at a party. And this time? He sees her for who she truly is: funny, brilliant, gorgeous and kind. That night ends with a kiss. High school dances follow. He even rocks a purple cummerbund to match her dress a true love flex if there ever was one.

But as young love often does, life takes them in different directions. She moves to Ohio, becomes a pharmacist, raises two beautiful daughters. He stays in Florida, becomes a journalist, builds a family of his own. Years pass. Decades, even. There are joys. There are heartbreaks. There is growth.

Then one day after an unimaginable loss, he reaches out to her, not just for advice, but for comfort. And what she offers isn’t just words… it’s healing. A laugh that lights up the dark. A voice that feels like home.

A James Taylor concert in Columbus becomes their second first date. And three years later, 44 years after that bus stop encounter, they’re saying “I do” at The Don Cesar, one of the most breathtaking wedding venues in the world.

And let me tell you… this place isn’t just a venue. It’s a dream.

The Don is pure magic, like stepping into a fairytale. That soft-pink palace rising above the sand, the ocean breeze, the glowing sunset that seemed like it was painted just for them. People dream of getting married here their whole lives. And watching these two soulmates tie the knot in a place so magnificent felt like witnessing a scene from a movie but better, because it was real.

I stood there with my camera, heart pounding, goosebumps on my arms, trying to hold back tears as I captured it all. The way he looked at her when she walked down the aisle. The way she laughed during their vows. The way every single guest had this look of, “We are witnessing something sacred here.”

And then… the cherry on top? Their love story, this honest, beautiful, soul-stirring journey will be published in The New York Times. Immortalized forever. Just like their love deserves to be.

To this incredible couple: You have touched everyone around you with the power of your story. You’ve reminded us that it’s never too late for love, for laughter, for butterflies, for that feeling of “home.” I wish you a life full of late-night dancing in the kitchen, shared sunrises, deep talks, and constant awe at how lucky you are to have found each other again.
